8 Dead Ash Trees - Climbing to Cleanup Job
Nicely organized
I’m thinking about doing something like that. Definitely those autocad drawing lol
Love the channel, thanks for the video! I’m currently working for a ROW tree company trying to build my business up on the side! I can model after you since my “ground crew” is always slacking too! I recently got a small chipper and now I really want a dump trailer and doodlebug 😂
sounds like you're moving ahead! good to hear. just keep doing good work and building that business and you'll have all the equipment you need/want. good stuff man :)
What kind of packaging for outdoor equipment lets things get waterlogged?
You said it!
do you think there will be container movement from frost enough to bother your roof? and the reason i ask is i am about to do the same thing. the ground is hard, i plan to put 3/4 inch gravel down with round 18 inch by 6 inch thick concrete pads down?
my boxes are on concrete piers that go down below the frost line ... no movement so far :)
I'd suggest doing down below frost line in your area for the footers
Hows it holding up a year later?
Ran good on every job, then I got a bigger machine for the jobs I do that made sense
Good video.
very good video and very informative =) Good job! greetings
thanks for checking it out!
Brilliant thanks.
You gotta Hawk Tuah that thing to keep it from chattering while bore cutting. Well done Wood whisperer.
Hawk Tuah for sure! I've gottan much better at the bore cut over the years ... takes some wrist :)
@@metaspencer Lol, good to go brother
Nice tree work. What size is that ECHO top handle saw?
the main echo I run is the 2511t ... that might have been one of the bigger echos which I use less often
It is a truth universally acknowledged that an arborist in posession of a log must be in need of a maul. Though when any individual log doesn't yield to 3 blows, I then prefer a sledge and a wedge.
Good for snow removal?
Pretty decent but sometimes we get a foot or more, so the bigger tractors are better
@@metaspencer I'm in North Dakota, so a "foot or more" is still fall or spring to us. LOL
@@toddjenest3212 gotcha. yeah, I like a heavier machine for moving snow
What a sick ash job. Nice work Crazy bids.
Hahahahha there ya go! Exactly
Thankyou for posting this video. Really informative and helpful.
Good to hear!
What size wire did you use?
Check a chart. Depends on distance and load. Don’t go too thin
Real men wear the shop crocs!
absolutely :) gets air to the welding burns
@@metaspencer exactly!
I tried out keeping my rigging and climbing lines in rope bags, up in the tree with me - game changer. The ropes don't get tangled up anymore on the ground in the brush. I was able to work all afternoon lowering / chucking down branches, pulling my rigging line back up and stowing it after every branch. The biggest problem after was working my way out of the massive pile, once I got back on the ground
I'll be doing the bagged rope thing this week -- glad to hear it works out!
INFRONT is a manufacturer as well! they built my machines and sent me the videos in process !
nice ... yeah, pretty decent equipment
I got my dog an evaporative vest and came across your video because I figured there had to be something like that for me! I was recently diagnosed with MS and I’m feeling the heat worse than ever, so I appreciate you making this video. :)
hang in there and stay cool!
So is there a thermostat to control heat in each room? We heat with wood stove and are looking to switch to the same setup here but wondering how the heat is controlled(besides opening a window)
You can set the system up that way, with each thermostat calling for water off the heated loop. But we have just kept it simple: each radiator is either off or on, no thermostats. works great in our home
@@metaspencer yea K.I.S.S. makes the most sense to me. is it just turning the valve off from manifold or off switch on radiator? see a know on top right on one so assume it’s a fancy ball valve on the actual radiator? thanks for the video and reply looks awesome
@@EricPurington we can do it either way: turn things on and off at the radiators or at the manifold. I prefer the manifold. we typically just run 2 or three radiators and the house is nice and toasty
You have to sort your ground crew out. Get your leaders Trump or Biden to sort it out.
When I find the crew I'll let them know there are leaders somewhere
you could replace the operator platform with a thick metal tank fill-able with water for counterweight.
Cool idea and nicely adjustable
Perfect form man. Excellent cutting, and setups. I always enjoy watching. Have a great weekend.
Great to hear! Thanks buddy
Thanks it looks good I do have a question what size of nails did you used for the board thanks
long enough to get a good connection into the framing members below
Another great video, Spencer! That mini skids power is still so impressive to me Bid #1 - did you give them a price or tell em you can’t do it? And how often have you told folks you can’t do jobs? All the best
yeah that mini brings the power for sure -- so nice to move that amount of material so quickly. As for that first bid (the super rotten maple) I thought long and hard about it and devised a way that I think I'll be able to get it down. So I bid the job and they accepted the offer. I bought one extra rope I'll need for the job and I will likely post a vid about it before too long. sketchy, but I think it'll work out. With that said, though, I DO turn away jobs every few weeks. It happens
@@metaspencer Thanks for the reply, always find it interesting what you do and appreciate the time you take to share.
Hmmm, dying ass tree....
yup you said it
Hey Spencer, nice work. Lots of hassles, well handled.
thanks buddy -- yeah, sometimes the headaches kick in ... you know how it is
Lot of good firewood you just got!
Oh yeah! will be splitting it this weekend ... you know how those trees are: already nice and dry
When's the ground crew going to get a raise? Maybe then they'd show up and be productive ?
Big money! yeah, that's likely what the demands will be at the bargaining table :)
You're brave climbing those big dead As* trees. They are brittle!
Stayed on the trunk on that one and no lean -- when they're punky or need limb work or have lean, I keep my feet on the ground
Good job on those dead ass trees Spencer 😂
they were pretty toasted out
Thanks!
Big thanks! much appreciated
Big Ash trees all goin bye bye. I think its some japanese bug thats killed them all. Pretty wood too, you should get that milled.
yeah the wood is pretty solid if you don't leave them standing too long ... I was at a property the other day with 58 dead ash trees. crazy stuff
@@metaspencer WOW, its all goin away.
My friend... You see the yellow small bus is the best thing ever😊😊.. hand loading sucks????? Now we have to work on one other very important piece of equipment 😊...
A company actually sent me a chipper for FREE today ... one of those mini little electric units. we'll see how it goes haha
Enjoyed the video. Nice work on the Big ASH trees.
Thanks buddy! more dead ash trees around here than you can shake a crumbling ash stick at :)
The tree was not kind to the "Be Kind" sign...😂
the brutality! :)
“Job so far has consisted of trying to get people to get their cars out of the way…” 😂 people have no idea most tree guys double as valets
You said it man ... gotta wear a lot of hats out there haha
100 percent agree! Usually rental/apartment complexes are the worst!
@@ClimbingColt the renters were like "Whaaaat? We never heard you were coming"
Is that still that china-skidsteer going strong?
second, bigger machine ... I moved into a bigger one that can lift more. no problems with the first one it was just on the small side
Big Ash. Big thumbs up. 👍 (We call black raspberries "brambles" in Scotland).
brambles! no fun to fall into but lots of fun to nibble on
I didn't like you climbing that dead tree. Thanks for taking us along.
It wasn't a leaning tree and was actually pretty solid -- but always nice to get down on planet earth again ;)
The book will say notch the tree above the clothes line. Make sure to hold the saw overhead when cutting. 👍 I got your back.
books don't lie! another question for the test ;)
Funny title
a lot of them big ashes around here haha
hahah. loved this!
thanks love!
Just one guy help?
one guy ... that's how I roll
Funny with the ground crew but i dont understand.
I joke about having a crew sometimes ... but I'm the crew
Yer have lota room lot to do tho. 1 guy
I love it all from the tree tops to the rake handle
For the piece you connected to the siding, did you end up caulking around that area? I'm new to any carpentry work so excuse if that's a newb question lol
Always a good idea to add sealant if there is any chance of water getting in there
I did the same exact thing not looking anything up nut i used decking 16 footers and got a massive delivery and mine was on concrete ao i did 4 foot post on center! We hVe 7 dogs who like to go wild in the yard so we used rhicker deck boards yo get more strength
Sounds like a great idea!
Very nice work. Just an average day. Huh Great view
